Le CC-IN2P3 prévoit un arrêt de maintenance le mardi 25 novembre 2025 pour les services ci-dessous dont l'indisponibilité est détaillée ci-après en [heure locale].

La plage horaire prévisionnelle des perturbations s'étend le mardi 25 novembre de 08:00 à 17:00 (heure locale), soit de 07:00 à 16:00 (heure UTC).

- Mise à jour de la configuration HPSS : Arrêt du service du mardi 25 novembre 09:30 à 12:00
Comme HPSS sera arrêté, aucune lecture ou écriture de fichiers ne sera possible.

--- Indisponibilité partielle ---

- Mise à jour de la configuration du cluster web/ wok : Arrêt par intermittence du service du mardi 25 novembre 12:30 à 16:00
impliquant des coupures transitoires sur tous les hébergements des sites web externes et les services externes fournis par le CC-IN2P3 dont les plus connus sont:
Box, Etherpad, Forge, Hito pour les labos IN2P3, Id, Indico, Keycloak, Nsip
Portail (Utilisateurs), Privatebin, RocketChat IN2P3, Zammad (support utilisateurs), Doc (Documentation utilisateurs).

- Mise à jour de la plateforme de calcul Slurm du mardi 25 novembre 09:30 à 12:00, impliquant une coupure de la soumission pendant le temps de l'intervention.
Le service restera toutefois opérationnel et les jobs en attente ou en cours d’exécution ne seront pas impactés.

- Mise à jour de MongoCC le mardi 25 novembre de 10:00 à 17:00, pour info/rappel seulement, car les utilisateurs concernés sont déjà informés.

NB : Les interventions du 25 novembre vont permettre les évolutions Système et Calcul suivantes :
- le passage de Python 3.9 à 3.13 et
- la réorganisation de la plate-forme GPU avec la définition de 4 partitions distinctes pour être en accord avec les architectures matérielles proposées. Une communication aux utilisateurs a été envoyée dans ce sens le 18/11/2025 à la liste USERS-CC-L@IN2P3.FR.

Service disruptions will run on Tuesday November 25th from 08:00 [local time] until 17:00 [local time], i.e. from 07:00 until 16:00 [UTC].

--- Total unavailability ---

- Update of HPSS configuration : service outage on Tuesday November 25th from 9:30 until 12:00.
Please note, as the service will be stopped accordingly, no read/write access to files will be enabled.

--- Services in degraded mode---

- Update of the configuration of the web cluster/wok :
This will imply intermittent service outage from 12:30 to 16:00 on November 25th on the following external web services, the best known of which are :
Box, Etherpad, Forge, Hito (for IN2P3 labs), Id, Indico, Keycloak, Nsip, Portail (users), Privatebin, RocketChat IN2P3, Zammad (usersupport), Doc (users documentation).

- Update of the Slurm computing farm from 09:30 to 12:00 on November 25th.
This will imply an outage of the job submission during the timerange of the intervention.
However, the service will still be operational and jobs whether in waiting or running mode will not be affected.

- For information purpose and as a reminder only, as relevant users have been contacted separately : Upgrade of MongoCC from 10:00 to 17:00 November 25th.

NB : The interventions on November 25th will enable the following System and Computing changes:
- the transition from Python 3.9 to 3.13 and
- the reorganization of the GPU platform with the definition of four separate partitions to be in line with the proposed hardware architectures.
A communication was sent to this effect on November 18, 2025, to the list USERS-CC-L@IN2P3.FR.

Bonjour,

A l’intention des utilisateurs des GPU de la ferme de calcul SLURM du CC IN2P3.

Lors du prochain arrêt de maintenance du CC-IN2P3 mardi 25 novembre 2025, les partitions pour l'accès aux GPU seront reconfigurées.

La partition 'gpu' disparaît au profit d'un partition par modèle de GPU. Ceci permettra de donner plus de visibilité sur l’utilisation de chaque type de GPU, Slurm ne permettant pas l'accès aux informations sur la nature des ressources disponibles dans une partition.
Ainsi la ferme de calcul SLURM disposera des partitions suivantes :

- plateforme interactive : gpu_v100_interactive et gpu_h100_interactive
- plateforme batch : gpu_v100 et gpu_h100.

Veuillez trouver ci-dessous les changements essentiels d'utilisation:
- la commande de soumission ne nécessitera plus l'option --gres=gpu::, mais il faudra spécifier l'une des partitions avec l'option "-p | --partition=".
- pour demander plusieurs GPU la commande --gpus reste active.
- il n'y a plus de type par défaut : pour demander des GPU sans la nécessité d'un type précis, il faudra spécifier les deux partitions séparées d'une virgule.
(par exemple: "-p gpu_v100,gpu_h100")
- les options sur les paramètres de temps, nombre de CPU et mémoire restent obligatoires.

La documentation sera mise à jour mardi prochain 25 novembre après l'arrêt.

Dear users,

For users of GPUs on the CC IN2P3 SLURM computing farm.

During the next CC-IN2P3 scheduled maintenance on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, the partitions for GPU access will be reconfigured.

The “gpu” partition will be replaced by a partition for each GPU model. This will provide greater visibility on the use of each type of GPU, as Slurm does not allow access to information on the nature of the resources available in a partition.
The SLURM computing farm will therefore have the following partitions:

- interactive platform: gpu_v100_interactive and gpu_h100_interactive
- batch platform: gpu_v100 and gpu_h100.

Please find below the key changes in usage:
- the submission command will no longer require the option --gres=gpu::, but one of the partitions must be specified with the option ‘-p | --partition=’.
- to request multiple GPUs, the --gpus command remains active.
- there is no longer a default type: to request GPUs without specifying a specific type, you will need to specify the two partitions separated by a comma. (for example: ‘-p gpu_v100,gpu_h100’)
- the options for time settings, number of CPUs and memory remain mandatory.

The documentation will be updated next Tuesday, 25 November, after the shutdown.
